Shopping

We've had a lot of snow since the students arrived from Korea.  We've even had a few snow days!  On one of those days Jessie's and Jinny's host moms and siblings took them to the mall for a little American shopping trip.

Jinny's host sister on the left (Alyssa) and Jessie's host sister on the right (Allison).  They are trying on glasses and acting goofy.

Jinny's other host sister, Kaylene.

And Jinny's host brother who is a pesky 5-year-old.

Puzzle Time

Our family likes to do jigsaw puzzles.  So we pulled out a new 1000 piece puzzle when Jinny arrived and have been diligently working on it since then.

Finished!!

Help in the Kitchen

Jessie was eager to make pork the way they do in Korea.

Everyone said it was delicious!

Rollerskating Fun

There was no school yesterday because of a national holiday.  So several of the students went roller skating.  They had a great time and we were all very impressed at how well they could skate.

Spring Garden Korean Restaurant

The host parents for Jessie and the host mom for Jinny took the girls to a local Korean restaurant so they could fill their bellies with some familiar food.  It was a fun treat for all of us!

Mrs. M and J

The girls told us what dishes to try and Mr. K was very brave to order the same soup the girls ordered.  They said if we ate it we would have a fire in our belly!  They were not joking!!

Very spicy noodle and seafood soup!
To the other host families:  The restaurant is in Camp Hill on Market Street and is called Spring Garden.  The owner is Korean and has lived here for over 25 years.  She spent a lot of time talking to the girls and explaining different cultural and food things to us.  She was great!  One note...if you decide to go we would recommend not taking your other children with you on this outing.  They would not appreciate the food at all.  Expect to pay between $10-$20 per dish.
